The fifth release added 1950s memos, 1960s CIA notes and artist renderings based on firsthand accounts.
On August 7, 2026, the Department of War published the fifth release of declassified and historical UAP files on WAR.GOV/UFO.
What was in it
The batch included scanned memos from the 1950s, CIA notes from the 1960s, and an artist's interpretation of a UAP reported in Afghanistan in 2002. Another rendering was based on a sighting reported by a former Department of War employee in 2023.
The bigger picture
Material released through PURSUE now spans more than 70 years, including military sensor footage, astronaut transcripts, FBI field reports and historical memoranda. Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell said the Department and its agency partners were already working on the next release.
