Early-stage aerospace companies often struggle to turn promising technology into defense contracts. Space Innovation Unit is built to help them make that crossing, with a path toward Complete Aerospace Solutions as they mature.
America's commercial space sector is full of talented founders with promising technology. The Department of War is actively looking for that technology. Between the two sits a path that many early-stage companies are still learning to navigate: the road from a good idea to a defense contract.
Space Innovation Unit was built to help companies travel it.
The Department of War wants commercial space innovators
The door for startups has never been more open. The U.S. Space Force's innovation arm, SpaceWERX, manages the Space Force's Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs, awarding contracts to startups and small businesses developing technologies that strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base. In August 2026, SpaceWERX and Space Systems Command's Commercial Space Office announced their latest Strategic Funding Increase selections, adding 11 companies to help power the next generation of space capabilities.
Golden Dome is a major driver. SpaceNews has reported that the missile defense program has become a focal point for space and defense startups looking for new markets, and the Department of War launched its Golden Dome for America Hub specifically to streamline collaboration between the department and the commercial technology sector.
What Space Innovation Unit does
Space Innovation Unit, or SIU, is an aerospace-focused business incubator and a wholly owned subsidiary of Decentral Life. It works with early-stage aerospace and defense companies and helps prepare them for the contracts and growth that support U.S. defense priorities, including the Golden Dome missile defense initiative.
In spirit, SIU mirrors the role the Defense Innovation Unit plays inside government: a bridge between commercial innovation and defense needs. SIU works from the company side of that bridge.
Helping founders get ready
Defense customers buy differently than commercial ones. Founders often need help with:
- Planning for defense procurement timelines
- Meeting security, compliance and quality requirements
- Identifying which programs and customers fit their technology
- Finding the right advisors and partners
An incubator can help a company work through these steps in a deliberate order, so the technology is ready when the opportunity is.
The path forward: Complete Aerospace Solutions
SIU has a strategic partnership with Complete Aerospace Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Complete Financial Solutions. Complete Aerospace Solutions acquires established lower-tier aerospace and defense suppliers.
The idea is a natural progression. SIU works with companies early. As those companies mature and reach the scale Complete Aerospace Solutions looks for, some may eventually become acquisition candidates. That gives founders a potential long-term path, and it gives Complete Aerospace Solutions an early view of promising American aerospace companies.
That path isn't automatic. Every company has to earn its way there, and any acquisition would depend on its own merits and terms.
A note on the relationships
Space Innovation Unit is owned by Decentral Life. Complete Aerospace Solutions is owned by Complete Financial Solutions. They are separate companies working together through a strategic partnership. Ken Tapp, Finance and Investment Officer of Complete Financial Solutions, is also Chairman and CEO of Decentral Life, Inc. (OTC: WDLF) and a director of Space Innovation Unit.
Building the bench for Golden Dome
Golden Dome will draw on a deep bench of American aerospace companies, from established manufacturers to companies that are just getting started. SIU's role is to help strengthen the early end of that bench, so more American innovation makes it all the way to the mission.
