Tokenization may one day make real estate easier to finance and more liquid. Here is how CompleteRE Holdings thinks about it: as a careful, forward-looking layer on a traditional real estate business.
Real estate has always been one of the most valuable asset classes in America. It has also been one of the least liquid. Buying, selling or financing property takes time, paperwork and intermediaries, and owning a piece of a large commercial property has usually been out of reach for most investors.
Tokenization is one of the ideas that may change that over time. At CompleteRE Holdings, we see it as a forward-looking layer on top of a traditional real estate business, not a replacement for one.
A fast-growing market
Tokenization of real-world assets is growing quickly. Benzinga reported that tokenized real-world assets grew from approximately $21.5 billion at the start of 2026 to about $39 billion as of October 9, 2026, an 81% increase in the year.
Real estate is still an early part of that market. According to RWA.xyz data cited by 4IRE Labs, there was around $226 million of distributed tokenized real estate as of September 2026, representing about $1.34 billion in underlying real estate value. That leaves substantial room to grow as the infrastructure matures.
The regulatory environment is evolving too. Accounting and advisory firm BDO has noted that the Securities and Exchange Commission has adopted a more collaborative posture heading into 2026, helping provide clearer "rules of the road" for the industry.
What tokenization means
In simple terms, tokenization represents ownership interests in an asset, such as a building or a portfolio of properties, as digital tokens recorded on a blockchain. Those tokens can, in principle, make it easier to divide ownership, track it and transfer it.
One point matters above all: tokenized interests in real estate are generally still securities. Putting an investment on a blockchain doesn't remove securities laws, investor protections or disclosure obligations. Any tokenized offering has to be structured and offered in compliance with those rules.
Why it could matter
Done properly, tokenization may offer:
- Liquidity over time, if compliant secondary markets for tokenized real estate continue to develop
- Transparency, with ownership records that are easier to verify
- Efficiency, by reducing some of the friction in transferring interests
- Broader access, where permitted, to asset classes that have been hard to reach
None of these benefits is automatic, and the market is still young. That is why we treat tokenization as a long-term capability to develop carefully.
Traditional first, tokenized next
CompleteRE's foundation is traditional real estate. It is positioned as an acquisition platform and has already completed real estate acquisitions together with Complete Financial Solutions, described in Complete Financial Solutions' recent financial filings. It also plans, in the future, to offer residential and commercial financing. Those services are not offered today.
Tokenization sits on top of that foundation. As the regulatory and market infrastructure matures, we believe it may make the real estate side of our group easier to finance and, eventually, more liquid.
Part of a broader trend
CompleteRE isn't alone in this view. Across our extended network of companies, tokenization is being explored for other real-world assets, from energy to infrastructure. Our approach in each case is the same: start with real assets, follow the rules and build carefully.
